Women's Cross Country Finishes 18th in Nation at NJCAA Championships

In unseasonably cold and snowy conditions at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Saturday, the SMC Women's Cross Country team finished 18th in the nation with a score of 589 at the NJCAA Division II Championship. 

Freshman Lainey Yearling led the team with a 65th place finish in 21:25.8 for the five kilometers. Jenny Hernandez-Medina was 111th in 22:14.7, Amelia Hurst 118th in 22:18.5, Lilly Wolf 172nd in 23:25.5, Zoie Wood 178th in 23:34.5, Oakley Rigozzi 192nd in 23:50.1 and Gabby Wisdom 222nd in 24:32.2. 

Mesa Community College won the national championship with a score of 54 points.
