Cecilia Williams to Wrestle for SMC
Cecilia Williams of Mason High School has signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to wrestle for the Roadrunners starting in Fall 2026.
Williams has placed four times at the U.S. Marine Corps Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo: twice in fourth place, second place and champion. She was a 2-time MHSAA State placer, U23 World Team member, Pan American qualifier and World Team Trials champion. Williams is ranked third in the nation in her weight class.
Head Coach Todd Hesson said of Williams, "Cecilia is an extremely hard worker with extensive experience at the State, National and International level. Cecilia, along with the women we currently have on the roster and new recruits coming in will be the foundation of SMC Women's Wrestling!"
Williams joins Elyse Morales of Decatur, Michigan, Olesya Mullins of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Harleigh Toepfer of Portage Northern, Michigan, in the 2026 SMC Women's Wrestling recruiting class.
In March, SMC Women's Wrestling traveled to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to compete in the NJCAA National Championships, where the team finished its inaugural season at #23 in the country.
On April 8, SMC held a public ceremony to dedicate a new 11,195 square-foot wing of the Charles O. Zollar Building that quadruples the space available to the men's and women's wrestling teams. It doubles the mat capacity for practice sessions and provides additional competition space for hosting conference and regional meets. The new facility also includes a dedicated fitness and warm-up area, coaches' offices, locker rooms and additional restrooms.
