Volleyball Bests Muskegon in Home Opener
The Southwestern Michigan College Volleyball Team took down the Muskegon Jayhawks in four sets in the season home opener at the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse on Tuesday, 25-9, 22-25, 25-23, and 25-14.
"This was a total team effort," said Head Coach Jenny Nate. "All attackers were firing, and our setters and defense did an incredible job making it possible to run our offense even when we were out of system. We came out and executed exactly what we have been working on in practice. Muskegon is always a tough opponent, but I thought we did a great job of attacking from all areas of the court using our entire team, and we got great blocks and block touches that forced some pressure on their attackers. This win was only possible because of the intensity of our daily practice and the work that all 17 of our players put in day in and day out. They challenge each other in every single drill like it is a match which is why were able to come away with this win over Muskegon. We will celebrate tonight, but tomorrow we are back to business preparing to take on Ancilla next Tuesday in conference match play."
The Roadrunners are now 8-3, with the highest current win total in the entire MCCAA.
