Volleyball Moves to 7-3 on Season

The SMC Volleyball Team had a great weekend at the Owens Invitational against tough competition. The Roadrunners went 3-1, with the only loss to the #5-ranked Parkland Cobras on Saturday, 10-25, 13-25, 16-25. Later Saturday afternoon, SMC beat Waubasee 25-18, 25-14, 25-17.

"I was excited to see us improve as a team every single match this weekend," said Head Coach Jenny Nate. "Despite the loss to Parkland, that loss forced us to speed up our overall game, handle pressure, face hitters who attacked deeper, and made us work together to find ways to score and trust teammates within their positions.  This was a high pressure game, and we walked off that court a much stronger team than when we started.  We carried what we learned to the court against Waubasee and were able to make sure we kept our play fast and set the tone for and controlled the pace and energy despite the speed of our opponent on the court, resulting in the sweep.  We have played a lot of volleyball in the past week and look forward to giving the players a couple days to rest and recover as we move forward Tuesday preparing to face Muskegon next."

The Roadrunners are now 7-3.
