Volleyball Splits Day 2 of OWT

Volleyball Splits Day 2 of OWT

The Southwestern Michigan College Volleyball Team went 1-1 again on Day 2 of the Opening Weekend Tournament in Rockford, sweeping John Wood 25-12, 25-12, 25-20 and losing to Southwestern Illinois College 21-25, 15-25, 23-25.

"Despite going 1-1 today, we played much stronger, calmer, and more aggressively, said Head Coach Jenny Nate. "We came out swinging during the first match and really worked together to get the sweep; our younger players did a great job taking feedback yesterday and it showed on the court. In the second match, we faced another tough, strong, fast team with height and power who really challenged us.  The scores were close in the first and third sets, and we were matching point for point in those matches.  In the second set, we were actually down by a lot and made some major runs to get back in the game.  We are building chemistry, and I am grateful to be playing tough teams this weekend which only keep making us better and more prepared for our conference season.  We are regrouping tonight and look forward to finishing day three strong."

The Roadrunners are now 2-2 on the season.
