Maggie Arney Picks SMC

Maggie Arney Picks SMC

Maggie Arney of Lakeshore High School and Dunes Volleyball Club has signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to play volleyball in the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse for Head Coach Jenny Nate and the Roadrunners.

Nate said of Arney, "Maggie is a 6'0" middle- and right-side hitter who not only has height on the net but also comes with incredible attacking intelligence, sees the court, is a great blocker, and brings positive energy and excitement to our team.  Maggie has extensive experience as she comes from a strong Lakeshore program and played for Dunes Volleyball Club on their top teams. Not only is she a leader on the court but in the classroom as well, which helps us continue to build the culture we want here at SMC.  We are thrilled to welcome Maggie to SMC Volleyball and know she will be an asset to our program."

Lakeshore Coach Debbie Watson added, "Maggie is a great asset to any team because along with her skill set, she brings great volleyball knowledge and court awareness.  She is also a great teammate.  I think she's going to do a great job at SMC this fall!"

Arney is the eighth member of the 2025 SMC Volleyball class, joining Emma Hull of LaPorte, Lily Kowalik of St. Joseph, Ashanti Bonner of Elkhart, Purdue Northwest transfer Amie Schutz of Valparaiso, Sophia Bachman and Isabella Tibbles of Buchanan and Meah Evans of Constantine as new players on the Roadrunners squad.

SMC Volleyball finished the 2024 season with a winning record of 22-16, including a win over the previously undefeated and nationally-ranked McHenry County Scots. The Roadrunners were 7-5 in the MCCAA Western Conference, qualifying for the Great Lakes District Tournament for the third consecutive year, advancing in the bracket twice. Individual Roadrunners earned seven conference and regional awards, including All-Freshman Team, All-Conference Honorable Mention, All-Conference Second Team, All-Conference First Team, All-MCCAA Team and All-Region Team.

The spring season ended April 30 and the Fall 2025 season officially begins on August 1.
