Jayden Cochran to Wrestle for the Roadrunners
Jayden Cochran of Miamisburg High School in Ohio has signed his NJCAA Letter of Intent to wrestle for Coach Todd Hesson and the Roadrunners.
Cochran has had an impressive high school wrestling career, with 148 wins against 20 losses, a Miamisburg record. He was a four-year varsity starter, varsity captain, four-time sectional champion, district champion, three-time Ohio Division 1 state qualifier and two-time Ohio Division 1 All-State placer.
He also holds the Miamisburg records for season takedowns (183) and career takedowns (488). Cochran has been named 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-County, 1st Team All-Area and 1st Team All-State for Ohio.
SMC Head Coach Todd Hesson said, "Jayden has a lot of experience at the state level. He is also a very hard worker with a strong desire to get better and is very coachable. J is excited to wrestle at the next level."
Coach Dave Cochran added, "Jayden has been on the mat nearly his entire life. He watched his older brother practice and started competing at an early age. J is a very tough, gritty kid - a competitor who never wants to get beat in the room or on the mat!"
In 2023-2024, while moving up to NJCAA Division 1, the Roadrunners again went undefeated in the MCCAA Duals Meet, earned the back-to-back MCCAA Conference championship, were Great Lakes District runners-up and qualified the maximum ten wrestlers for the national meet. SMC finished the season at #17 in the country and sophomore Caeleb Ishmael of Coloma was named an NJCAA All-American.
