Jayla Tyler Now a Roadrunner

Jayla Tyler of Bloom Trail High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois, has signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to play women's basketball in 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse for Head Coach Ariana Dampier and the Roadrunners starting in Fall 2026.

Dampier enthused, ""I've known Jayla her entire life, and it's been amazing to witness her growth both as a player and as an individual. Jayla is a great addition to what we are building at Southwestern Michigan College. She is a reliable shooter with a strong understanding of the game, does not settle, and can attack while creating opportunities for her teammates. I'm excited that Jayla chose me as her coach and Southwestern Michigan College as her new home. I look forward to teaching her the game and preparing her for the next level."

Tyler joins La'Niya Willis of Plainfield, Illinois and Jessica Thornton of Niles in the 2026 SMC Women's Basketball recruiting class.
