La'Niya Willis Picks SMC

La'Niya Willis of Plainfield South High School in Plainfield, Illinois, has signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to play women's basketball in 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse for Head Coach Ariana Dampier and the Roadrunners starting in Fall 2026.

Dampier said, "We are extremely blessed to have La'Niya as a part of our program. She is highly intelligent, athletic, and brings a great personality every day. The first time I watched her play, her athleticism and speed immediately stood out. She doesn't play to her height - she's constantly out-jumping everyone on the floor. She has a high basketball IQ and is very selfless, always looking to get her teammates involved and put them in positions to score. She plays with high energy and consistently brings a positive attitude. I'm excited to continue building her abilities on the court and watching her grow, not only as a player, but as a young woman"

Willis joins Jessica Thornton of Niles in the 2026 SMC Women's Basketball recruiting class.
