Jessica Thornton Joins the Roadrunners

Jessica Thornton of Niles High School has signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to play women's basketball in 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse for Head Coach Ariana Dampier and the Roadrunners starting in Fall 2026.

Dampier said, "Jess will be a great addition to the team. She is a hard worker who is constantly in the gym perfecting her craft. She can shoot from the outside, attack the paint, and defend at a high level. She brings a winning mentality and competes on every possession. I'm looking forward to coaching her and watching her continue to grow within our program."

Thornton is the first member of the 2026 SMC Women's Basketball recruiting class.

SMC brings a 6-7 record into conference play, which begins Saturday, January 10, against the Marian Ancilla Chargers. In their last non-conference game, the team set a new single-game scoring record in a 114-61 victory over North Central Michigan. Four Roadrunners scored over 20 points each, led by sophomore guard Rayvan Rush with 30.
