Roadrunners 1-2 Last Week
SMC Men's Basketball continued the long stretch of road games last week with a win and two defeats against Western Conference foes.
On Monday, in the rescheduled game at Lansing, SMC lost by the score of 100-76. The Roadrunners were down 23 at the half, but adjusted and played the second half pretty even with the Stars. SMC was led by sophomore Gio Williams with 21 points on 8 of 17 shooting, sophomore Davion Goins with 18 points and 9 rebounds, and freshman Josh Dennis with 16 and 8.
Wednesday found the Roadrunners visiting Marian University's Ancilla College in a rematch. The Green and Gold grabbed the win, 76-74. The Roadrunners led by 8 at the half, but the Chargers crept back in and had a chance to tie or win as time wound down. Ancilla missed a wild shot in the lane and SMC held on for the victory. Goins double-doubled with 21 points and 11 rebounds, freshman Jovi Ratliff poured in 19 and guards Deuce Weston and Damontae May each added 10.
Rounding out the week on Saturday at Kellogg, it was a tough day on the court as SMC fell at Kellogg, 84-57. Ratliff led the Roadrunners with 15 points and was 2-2 from deep. May had 14 points and 5 assists and Williams dropped in 13.
They remain in sixth place in the Western Conference with five games to go in the regular season. Next up are the GRCC Raiders at the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening, February 11.
